'Rock the House' - Ivan Barnett, Patina Gallery
I’m honored to be the first voice on the Peter and Todd blog…Todd asked me to provide a brief introduction to a new collaborative project between the amazing jewelry artists, Peter Schmid and Todd Reed. Through my gallery in Santa Fe , Patina, I’ve known both artists for ten years, more actually, and know their work well.
Peter and Todd have a lot in common. Both are young, with young families, and both are hugely successful in their own rights. And since they use similar materials, I thought a two person exhibition would be a cool idea. Then I had another idea….what if they did some collaborative work? When my wife Allison and I saw them last year in Tucson , we all had dinner together and I suggested the idea. They loved it.
The new work will be a highlight of their Patina exhibition this summer. “Rock the House” will present fresh, new works from each of the artists as well as the new, collaborative pieces. It opens August 17 and runs through the 22nd and coincides with the famous Santa Fe Indian Market. We’ll have a really good audience of collectors. We’re very excited…. I can’t wait to see what they do.
